splatter art
Flung paint technique
Splatter art is a style of abstract painting where paint is dripped, flung, or splashed onto a canvas rather than applied with conventional brushwork.
The technique is most associated with Jackson Pollock's action paintings of the 1940s and 50s.
The term sometimes appears dismissively, implying that anyone could make such work: My five-year-old could do that splatter art.
