splashguards

Wheel well protectors

Splashguards are protective panels or flaps mounted behind vehicle wheels to deflect water, mud, and road debris—preventing it from spraying onto the car body, other vehicles, or pedestrians.

Also called mud flaps or mudguards.

The term extends to similar protective barriers in other contexts: The urinal has splashguards on either side.
