splasher

Pool water flinger

A splasher is someone or something that splashes—a child in a wading pool, a whale breaching, a careless dishwasher.

The term also names protective devices: a dashboard or mudguard on a vehicle, or a decorative panel behind a sink to catch water.

In Victorian parlors, a splasher was an antimacassar-like cover protecting chair backs from hair oil.
