speed sensor
Motion measuring device
A speed sensor is a device that detects how fast something is moving and converts that measurement into an electrical signal.
Most commonly found in vehicles, where speed sensors monitor wheel rotation for the speedometer, anti-lock brakes, and traction control systems.
Speed sensors also appear in industrial machinery, conveyor systems, and fitness equipment: The mechanic replaced the faulty speed sensor to fix the erratic speedometer readings.
