special move
Unique combat action
A special move is a distinctive technique in video games or fighting sports that requires specific inputs or conditions to execute.
In fighting games, special moves are powerful attacks activated by particular button combinations or joystick motions: Quarter-circle forward plus punch for a fireball.
The term extends to signature techniques in wrestling, martial arts, or any domain where someone has a trademark maneuver: That spin kick is his special move.
