source-to-source
Language-to-language conversion
Source-to-source describes translation or conversion between programming languages at the same level of abstraction—typically from one high-level language to another, rather than from source code to machine code.
A source-to-source compiler (also called a transpiler) might convert TypeScript to JavaScript or legacy COBOL to Java: The source-to-source translator automated much of the migration.
