solar activity
The sun's behavior
Solar activity refers to the varying output of energy and matter from the sun—sunspots, solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and changes in the solar wind.
These phenomena follow roughly eleven-year cycles and can affect Earth's magnetic field, disrupt satellites and power grids, and produce auroras: High solar activity is expected to peak next year.
