soft tops
Retractable car canopies
Soft tops are convertible cars with fabric roofs that fold back, as opposed to hardtop convertibles with retractable metal roofs: We took the soft top out for a drive along the coast.
The term also refers to the roofs themselves: The soft top needs replacing after all these years in the sun.
