society page

The society page is the section of a newspaper devoted to social events, weddings, charity galas, and the activities of prominent local families.

Once a staple of American journalism, society pages chronicled who attended what party, who married whom, and who hosted whom for dinner.

The term now sounds quaint, as most papers have folded such coverage into lifestyle sections or abandoned it entirely.
