slack-key
Relaxed string technique
Slack-key is a style of acoustic guitar playing originating in Hawaii, characterized by tuning strings to an open chord rather than standard tuning.
The loosened strings produce a resonant, relaxed sound central to traditional Hawaiian music: He learned slack-key guitar from his grandfather on Maui.
Also called kī hōʻalu.
