turned up

Showed up unexpectedly

Turned up describes something that has appeared or arrived, often unexpectedly or after being missing: My wallet turned up in the couch cushions.

It also characterizes a physical orientation pointing upward, as in a turned up nose or turned up collar.

When applied to volume, temperature, or intensity, turned up means increased: We turned up the music and danced.

In British slang, turned up can mean drunk.
