silversides
Slender coastal baitfish
Silversides are small, slender fish with a distinctive silvery stripe along each side, found in coastal and freshwater environments worldwide.
They travel in schools and serve as forage fish for larger predators.
The name also applies to a cut of beef from the outer thigh, common in British and Australian butchery: a joint of silversides for Sunday roast.
