side story
Parallel plot thread
A side story is a narrative that runs alongside a main plot, exploring secondary characters, events, or perspectives.
In fiction and gaming, side stories provide context or depth without advancing the central storyline: The DLC includes a side story about the villain's origins.
The term also applies to tangential information in any account: That's a side story for another time.
