shoestring catch
Ankle-high grab
A shoestring catch is a catch made just above the ground, typically by a fielder running forward and snagging the ball near shoe level before it lands.
The term comes from baseball but applies to any sport where a player barely prevents a ball from hitting the turf: He made a diving shoestring catch to end the inning.
