ship collision
Vessels striking together
A ship collision is a maritime accident in which a vessel strikes another vessel, a structure, or an obstacle.
Collisions may occur between moving ships, or between a ship and something stationary like a pier, bridge, or iceberg.
The term covers both open-water accidents and incidents in ports or narrow channels: The ship collision blocked the harbor entrance for days.
