shack up
Share living quarters
Shack up means to live with someone, especially a romantic partner, without being married: They've been shacking up together for two years.
The phrase carries a slightly disapproving or old-fashioned tone, echoing a time when cohabitation outside marriage was scandalous.
It can also mean simply to stay somewhere temporarily: I shacked up at my cousin's place for the summer.
