settlings
Dregs that sink
Settlings are the solid particles that sink to the bottom of a liquid and collect there.
The word appears in contexts involving wine, coffee, or other beverages where sediment accumulates: Don't pour out the settlings at the bottom of the pot.
Settlings can also refer more broadly to any residue or dregs that settle out of suspension.
