semi-bluff
Betting with potential
A semi-bluff is a poker bet or raise made with a hand that isn't currently the best but has potential to improve—typically a drawing hand that could make a flush or straight.
Unlike a pure bluff, which can only win if opponents fold, a semi-bluff has two ways to succeed: opponents fold immediately, or the hand improves to win at showdown.
I semi-bluffed with my flush draw and hit on the river.
