semi-automatic weapons
One trigger, one bullet
Semi-automatic weapons fire one round per trigger pull, then automatically reload the next round from a magazine.
Unlike fully automatic weapons, which fire continuously while the trigger is held, semi-automatics require a separate pull for each shot.
Most modern handguns and many rifles operate this way: The shooter used a semi-automatic rifle.
The term often appears in debates about gun regulation.
