self-elevations

Raising one's status

Self-elevations are acts of raising one's own status, importance, or position.

The term applies to literal physical raising—as in yoga or exercise where you lift your body—but more often describes efforts to enhance one's standing or reputation: His constant self-elevations during meetings irritated his colleagues.

The word typically carries a whiff of vanity or self-promotion.
