Referencing your own
Self-citation is the practice of citing one's own previous work in a new publication.
In academic writing, some self-citation is natural when building on prior research, but excessive self-citation can artificially inflate citation metrics or suggest intellectual insularity: The journal flagged his paper for having twelve self-citations out of fifteen references.
