Highlight the lot
Select all is a command that highlights every item in a given context—all text in a document, all files in a folder, all cells in a spreadsheet.
The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A (or Command+A on Mac) is universal across most software.
I hit select all and deleted everything by accident.
