second pass
Going over again
A second pass is a repeated effort through something already addressed once, typically to refine, correct, or catch what was missed: I'll clean up the formatting on a second pass.
The term comes from manufacturing and computing, where material or data moves through a process multiple times.
In editing, a second pass often focuses on different concerns than the first—checking facts after fixing structure, for instance.
