seclusion room
Quiet separation space
A seclusion room is a bare, locked space where a person—typically a student or psychiatric patient—is confined alone, usually after violent or disruptive behavior.
The practice is controversial: proponents call it a safety measure, critics call it traumatic isolation.
The school district banned seclusion rooms after parent complaints.
