search string
What you typed
A search string is the text you type into a search engine or search box—the sequence of characters used to find matching results.
The term emphasizes that the query is processed as a literal string of characters: The search string "exact phrase" returns only exact matches.
In programming and database contexts, search strings may include special operators or wildcards.
