seacocks
Boat water intakes
Seacocks are valves fitted below a boat's waterline that control the flow of water into or out of the hull.
They allow seawater in for engine cooling, toilets, and other systems, and can be closed to prevent flooding if a hose fails.
A stuck or corroded seacock is a serious safety concern: Check all seacocks before leaving the dock.
