scrobbling
Automatic song tracking
Scrobbling is the automatic logging of music you listen to, sending track data to a service that builds a record of your listening habits.
The term originated with Last.fm, which tracks plays to generate statistics and recommendations: I've been scrobbling for years—my profile shows I listened to Radiohead 3,000 times.
The verb is scrobble.
