screen tear
Frame buffer mismatch
Screen tear is a visual artifact in video displays where portions of the image appear misaligned, creating a horizontal break where two or more frames are visible simultaneously.
It occurs when the graphics output falls out of sync with the monitor's refresh rate: I keep getting screen tear in this game.
Vertical sync (V-sync) and similar technologies prevent it by synchronizing frame delivery.
