Scratchings are the crispy bits of pork skin fried until crunchy, popular as a British pub snack: a packet of pork scratchings with my pint.

The word also refers to any scratched-off fragments or residue—the scratchings from a lottery ticket, or the scratchings a hen makes in the dirt.
