scoop shots
Wristy lifting strokes
A scoop shot is a basketball move where a player approaches the basket and uses an underhanded motion to lift the ball up and over defenders, typically while driving to the hoop.
The shot gets its name from the scooping motion of the arm, which resembles someone scooping something from below.
It's particularly useful for smaller players who need to avoid shot-blockers, releasing the ball at a lower point than a traditional layup.
