jump shots
Elevated basketball shots
A jump shot is a basketball shooting technique in which the player leaps into the air and releases the ball at or near the peak of the jump, typically using one hand to shoot and the other to guide.
This distinguishes it from set shots taken with feet planted on the floor.
The jump shot became the dominant scoring method in basketball during the mid-20th century because it's harder to block.
She practiced her jump shot until it was automatic from the elbow.
