school term
Quarter or semester
A school term is a division of the academic year during which classes are in session, separated by breaks or holidays.
Depending on the institution, schools may operate on semesters (two terms), trimesters (three terms), or quarters (four terms).
The fall term begins in September.
In British usage, term alone often suffices where Americans might say semester.
