sand paintings
Art from grains
Sand paintings are images created by pouring colored sand, crushed minerals, or other granular materials onto a flat surface.
Associated especially with Navajo healing ceremonies, where elaborate designs are made and then ritually destroyed.
The term also applies to similar practices in Tibetan Buddhism and to permanent decorative artworks that fix sand under glass or with adhesive.
