salary advance
Paycheck before payday
A salary advance is money paid to an employee before their regular payday, drawn against wages they haven't yet earned.
It's essentially a short-term loan from the employer, typically repaid through deductions from future paychecks: She requested a salary advance to cover emergency car repairs.
Unlike a bonus, an advance doesn't increase total compensation—it simply shifts when the employee receives it.
