safe seats
Uncontested political districts
Safe seats are electoral districts where one party has such a strong advantage that the outcome is essentially predetermined.
The incumbent party can win without much effort, making these seats uncompetitive: Both parties focus their resources on swing states rather than safe seats.
The opposite is a marginal seat, where elections are closely contested.
