sacred object
Venerated ritual artifact
A sacred object is something set apart for religious or spiritual purposes—a relic, icon, statue, or ritual implement believed to carry divine presence or power.
Such objects receive special treatment: they may be housed in temples, touched only by priests, or handled according to strict rules.
The Torah scroll is a sacred object in Judaism.
The term extends to secular contexts for anything treated with unusual reverence: For some fans, game-worn jerseys are sacred objects.
