ruralization
Shift toward countryside
Ruralization is the process of becoming more rural in character, or the movement of people from cities to countryside areas.
It's the opposite of urbanization: The pandemic accelerated ruralization as remote workers fled expensive cities.
The term also describes policies or changes that give regions more agricultural or small-town qualities.
