rubber curing
Heat-hardening raw latex
Rubber curing is the chemical process that transforms raw rubber into a durable, elastic material.
Heat and additives—typically sulfur—create molecular cross-links that give rubber its bounce and resilience.
Without curing, rubber remains sticky and weak.
The process is also called vulcanization: The tires undergo rubber curing at high temperatures.
