rocky beaches
Coasts with stones
Rocky beaches are shorelines composed primarily of stones, pebbles, and boulders rather than sand.
Unlike sandy beaches, they offer poor footing and rough surfaces: We picked our way carefully across the rocky beach.
The term describes a natural coastal formation, not a beach in poor condition.
