rock lobsters
Clawless marine crustaceans
Rock lobsters are large marine crustaceans found in warm waters, distinguished from true lobsters by their lack of large front claws and their spiny, armored shells.
They're also called spiny lobsters or crayfish in some regions, and are prized as seafood, particularly for their meaty tails.
The term gained cultural currency from the 1978 B-52's song "Rock Lobster," which helped launch new wave music into the mainstream.
