rewinders
Cassette spool devices
Rewinders are devices or people that wind something back to its starting position.
The term appeared most often with videotapes and cassettes—dedicated rewinders saved wear on VCR mechanisms.
The video store charged a fee if you didn't use the rewinder before returning tapes.
The word has faded with the formats it served.
