Pending order submissions
Request lines are the phone numbers listeners call to ask radio stations to play specific songs.
The term evokes an era when audience participation meant dialing in during evening programs: The request lines are open—call now to hear your favorite.
By extension, any channel for submitting requests: My inbox has become a request line for favors.
