remote detonation
Faraway explosive activation
Remote detonation is triggering an explosive device from a distance, using radio signals, cell phones, timers, or other mechanisms that don't require physical contact with the bomb.
The technique allows the person initiating the blast to remain at a safe distance or establish an alibi.
The bomb squad suspected remote detonation via a burner phone.
