remineralization

Replacing lost minerals

Remineralization is the process of restoring minerals to something that has lost them.

In dentistry, it refers to the natural repair of tooth enamel through minerals in saliva: Fluoride promotes remineralization of early cavities.

In environmental contexts, it describes adding minerals back to depleted soil or demineralized water.
