reimage
Wipe and reload
To reimage a computer is to restore or replace its operating system by copying a complete disk image onto it.
This wipes existing data and returns the machine to a known state: IT reimaged all the laptops before the new semester.
The process is common in corporate and educational settings where standardized configurations matter.
Separately, reimage can mean to present something with a new public identity: The company reimaged itself as eco-friendly.
