red pandas
Rust-colored tree climbers
Red pandas are small mammals native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, with reddish-brown fur, a long bushy tail, and a masked face.
Despite the name, they are not closely related to giant pandas—the resemblance is superficial, and they belong to their own taxonomic family.
They live in trees and eat mainly bamboo.
The zoo's red panda exhibit was always crowded.
