Burgundy salad leaves
Red leaf lettuce is a variety of lettuce with loose, ruffled leaves that shade from green at the base to deep burgundy or maroon at the tips.
The leaves are tender with a mild, slightly sweet flavor, making it popular in salads and sandwiches: I added some red leaf lettuce for color.
Unlike iceberg, it doesn't form a tight head.
