rear sight
Barrel's far end
The rear sight is the aiming device on a firearm positioned closest to the shooter's eye, used in combination with the front sight to align the weapon with its target.
On rifles and handguns, the rear sight typically has a notch or aperture through which the shooter views the front sight: Adjust the rear sight for windage.
Iron sights, as opposed to optical scopes, consist of this front-rear pairing.
