read-in
Transfer to memory
A read-in is a briefing that grants someone access to classified information or a secret program.
Intelligence and military personnel get "read in" to projects on a need-to-know basis: Once you're read in, you can't discuss this with anyone who isn't.
The term implies formal acknowledgment and acceptance of secrecy obligations.
A read-in can also be a protest event where participants gather to read books publicly, modeled on the sit-in.
