reaccommodate

Find new lodging

Reaccommodate is corporate jargon for rebooking passengers whose flights have been canceled or who have been bumped from overbooked planes.

The term gained notoriety in 2017 when United Airlines used it to describe forcibly removing a passenger from a flight: We had to reaccommodate these customers.

The euphemistic quality—making disruption sound like customer service—invited widespread mockery.
